Is the 3rd largest species of tortoise in the world and the largest of the mainland tortoises. Native to central and northern Africa, in dry regions, woodlands and semi-desert. They eat assorted fruits and vegetables and can live up to 70 years old.

American Alligator         Alligator mississippiensis

Alligators inhabit most of the southern United States, with over a million believed to live in Louisiana and Florida. Alligators have an average of 75 teeth, average at 800 pounds when full grown and are an average of 13 feet long. Have survived on earth for over 65 million years, and an individual can live for over 50 years.

Alpaca                          Vicugna pacos  

A member of the Camel Family, native to the Andes Mountains in South America. A Close relative of Llamas, they are smaller in size and their ears take on a different shape. Alpacas can live up to about 20 years.

American Bison             Bison bison

North America use to be home to 60 million Bison, but now the species survives  in a few national parks. Seem large and sluggish but are capable of running at speeds of 30-35 mph. Bison are grazers, and eat grasses and sedges. Can live 18-22 years long.

Aoudad                          Ammotragus Iervia

A species of caprid, meaning Goat-Antelope. Both males and females have horns. Aoudads are native to the northern regions of Africa. They can achieve a jump of over 7 feet, from a standing still position. Can live about 20 years.

Arctic Wolf                    Canis lupus arctos

Are smaller in size than a Timberwolf, but can weight over 100 pounds. Are able to stand sub-zero temperatures, months of darkness and weeks without food. They will eat every part of its prey, including fur and bones. Can live over 15 years in captivity.

Axis Deer                       Axis axis

Native to the wooded regions of Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and the jungles of India. Its antlers are generally 3-pronged and may extend over 30 inches long. They stand just over 3 feet tall and can weigh up to 185 pounds. Also called the Chital deer, can live 20-30 years.

Belted Galloway           

These cows are commonly referred to as "Police Car Cows" or "Oreo Cows" because of the white "Belt" around its otherwise completely black body. They originated in Southwest Scotland. Have a life span of approx. 25 years.

Bengal Tiger                 Pathera tigris

An endangered species, native to India, Bangladesh and Nepal. Males can weigh up to 575 pounds, and be 9 feet from head to tip of tail. Can reach speeds of 30 mph and have retractable claws. Are capable of eating over 50 pounds of meat in a sitting when hungry. Can live 15 years.

Bennetts Wallaby          Macripus rufogriseus

A medium sized marsupial, native to Australia and Tasmania. They stand 24-30 inches tall and weigh between 30-50 pounds. Carry their young, which are called Joey's, in their pouch until mature enough to survive out of the pouch. Have a lifespan of about 15 years in captivity.

Black Bear                     Ursus Americanus

The most common bear species native to North America. Ranges from northern Alaska all through Canada, 41 of the 50 States in the U.S. and northern Mexico. 85% of the Bears diet consists of vegetation, with the other 15% consisting of fish and meat. Has a great sense of smell, poor eyesight and a poor sense of hearing. Males can weigh up to 550 pounds and up to 6 feet long- running up to 30 mph. Can live up to 20 years.

These sheep tend to be excellent mothers, having twins, triplets and sometimes quadruplets. A short haired sheep, does not require sheering. Average lifespan of 10-12 yrs.

Black Panther                 Panthera pardus

A melanistic Leopard, meaning an increased amount of dark pigmentation. Think of it as the opposite of Albino. If you closely at the animals fur, you can still make out the faint outlines of spots and markings- just like a Spotted Leopard.

Native to North America, is a member of the cat family. Named for it's short and "Bobbed" Tail, it also has black tufts on its ears and longer hairs on the sides of its face, resembling sideburns. Hunts small mammals, rodents and even insects if it has to. Lifespan is approx 15-20 years in captivity.

Ranges over the middle east and into Africa, is a very territorial medium-sized cat. Have long black tufts on its ears, and is a very slender, golden colored cat. Will hunt rodents and hares, but is known for its ability to hunt birds. It is able to jump and climb very well, leaping to snatch birds out of mid flight. Lifespan is about 15 years.

Are a member of the raccoon family and are native to Mexico and South America. Coati's measure between 13-27 inches long from their nose to the base of their tail, which can be just as along as their body. They also weigh up to 18 pounds. In the wild, they are Omnivores: eating not only vegetation, but also insects and small rodents. Lifespan is about 10 years.

Dama Wallaby              Macropus eugenii

Smaller in size than the Bennetts Wallaby, and is also called the Tammar Wallaby. The head and body length is about 26 inches, with a 15-17 inch tail. They sit about 18 inches tall and weight up to 22 pounds. can live for about 20 years.

Dromedary Camel       Camelus dromedaries

There are 2 types of Camels, Bactrian (2 humps) and Dromedary (1 hump). When full grown, can be up to 7 feet tall at the shoulder and weigh up to 1500 pounds. Is capable of drinking 30 gallons of water in just 10 minutes.Camels can run in bursts of almost 40 mph, and sustain a speed of 25 mph. Lifespan is 40-50 years.

Eland                           Taurotragus oryx

Along with the "Giant" Eland, they are the largest species of Antelope in the world, with Bulls weighing up to 2200 pounds and standing 6 foot at the shoulder when full grown. Have been recorded running 42 mph and easily jumping over 5 foot tall obstacles.  Is native to the savanna and plains in east and southern Africa. Lifespan is up to 25 years.

Elk                               Cervus canadensis

One of the largest species of deer in the world. Native to the northern parts of North America and Asia. Bull Elk's are an average of 700 pounds, stand 5 ft tall at the shoulders and average 8 feet in length. Only the males grow antlers, the largest recorded were over 4 feet long and weighed in at over 40 pounds. Lifespan is 15-20 years in captivity.

The largest bird native to Australia, also the second largest bird in the world to the Ostrich. A flightless bird, is capable of running at speeds of over 30 mph for a sustained distance. can each over 6 ft in height, and weigh over 100 pounds. Lifespan is 10-20 years in captivity.

Fallow Deer                  Dama dama

Fallow are native to most of Europe and have since been introduced to other habitats around the world, including the continental United States. When mature, the Buck's antlers will have a "palm" on the end instead of the prongs that most deer have. Males can weigh up to 200 lbs. Lifespan is about 12-16 years.

Gaur                              Bos gaurus

A dark coated, forest cattle from southeast and southern Asia. They are the heaviest and most powerful of all wild cattle. Can be up to 6-7 ft tall at the shoulders and 8-10 ft long. Males can even weigh up to 3000lbs. A distinctive dorsal ridge sets them apart from the other cattle. Lifespan is about 30 years.

A popular breed of domestic rabbit, its origin is uncertain. Males can weigh up to 20 lbs and even heavier rabbits have been reported. Average lifespan is just over 5 years.

Grants Zebra               Equus quagga boehmi

The smallest of 6 subspecies of Plains Zebra. New born babies are able to talk within minutes of birth, and can run with the herd in just a few hours. In the wild, Zebras sleep in turns so that there is always a few members of the herd on alert for danger. Native to Africa. Average lifespan is about 18-20 years.

Ranges throughout most of the southern half of North America, from southern Canada to northern Venezuela and Colombia. Is an omnivore, eating small rodents and hares, and also whatever fruits or vegetables are readily available. Is a good climber. Lifespan is about 15 years.

An Old world monkey. Very adaptable, has a large range in Africa- but mainly savanna woodland areas. It's diet consist of mainly fruits and vegetation, but will occasional eat insects and small mammals. Lives in troops that range from 5-70 individuals. Lifespan is about 15 years.

Native to Africa, they can be found in a variety of habitats: grasslands, savanna's, woodlands, mountains and hills. Their stripes are specific toward each individual, much like fingerprints on a human. Average lifespan is just over 20 years.

Both males and females grown horns. Are capable of having 2, 4, or even 6 individual horns. A very old breed of sheep, its possible they date back to biblical times. Average lifespan is about 15 years.

Liger                              Panthera ligris

Not found in the wild. A Liger is the largest breed of cat, it has a Lion father and a Tiger Mother. It will outgrow both of its parents and a large male can stand over 10 ft tall on its hind legs and weigh over 1000 lbs. They are sterile, like mules and are unable to reproduce. Lifespan is about 15-20 years.

Lion (Black Mane)         Panthera leo

Refered to as "The King of the Jungle", Lions actually do not inhabit any jungle. Native to the plains of Africa, lions can run at speeds of almost 50 mph. Only males have a mane, one of the most distinctive characteristics of any animal. Lifespan is about 15 years.

Llama                             Lama glama

Originally from Peru, is not widely domesticated and used as a pack animal and for meat. A full grown adult is about 6 ft tall to the top of the head, and can weigh up to 450 lbs. When carrying packs they are able to carry more than 30% of their body weight. Average lifespan is about 20-25 years.

Native to Mexico, Central America, South America and formerly the Caribbean. Its diet consists of seeds, stems, and fruits. Very colorful and beautiful birds that have very good communication skills. Are capable of mimicking, or repeating the words it hears humans say.

Miniature Sicilian Donkey     Equus africanus asinus

This specific breed of donkey is by nature one of the friendliest and most affectionate animals of its type. They are very tame and gentle. They are by definition no taller than 36 inches tall. Native to the islands in the Mediterranean. Average lifespan is about 25-30 years.

Mouflon Sheep                   Ovis aries orientalis

Native to regions of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Russia and the country of Georgia. The males grow 2 thick spiral horns, and have an obvious color change from season to season. In the summer, they are a semi-solid golden brown. In the winter, white patches appear on both sides outlines with more darker browns. Lifespan is about 15-20 years.

Also known as the Barking deer, the Muntjac is not only the smallest breed of deer, but also the oldest- dating back more than 15 million years. Native to  southeast Asia, through India, Sri Lanka, and into China. Often weigh between 22-40 lbs.

Nilgai                                 Boselaphus tragocamelus

Mature bull Nilgai are a blueish grey in color and have 2 "Spikes" for horns. Native to central and northern India, Nilgai are the second largest species of Antelope. A mature male Nilgai can weigh about 600 lbs. Lifespan is about 20 years.

Oryx                                  Oryx dammah

The Scimitar-Horned Oryx is a species of Oryx that formerly inhabited all of northern Africa, but is now extinct in the wild. Males and females both grow horns, which can reach lengths of 3-4 feet. Mature Oryx can weigh up to 440 lbs.

The largest of any living species of bird, is completely flightless. Native to the plains of Africa. Mature Ostriches can weigh almost 300 lbs and stand almost 9 feet tall. Capable of running at speeds up to 45 mph. Average lifespan is about 50 years.

Is essentially a very large rodent, the 4th largest in the world behind the capybara, beaver and certain porcupines. Native to central and southern Argentina, mainly in grasslands and scrub deserts. Average lifespan is about 5-7 years.

Peafowl are best known for the bright, beautiful colors of the males tail, which it spreads as a part of courtship. The males are bright blue, while the females are a dull greyish brown. The male has a 30-50 inch body, and a train of feathers over 60 inches long. Native of India, the average lifespan is about 15 years.

It exist now only in captivity, but is believed to have originiated in the southern tropics of China.  Adults can weigh up to 440 pounds and stand about 4 ft tall at the shoulders. The average lifespan is about 18 years.

A small domesticated breed of goat. They tend to be more robust and produce better than meat or dairy goats. They originated in the Cameroon valley of west Africa. Average lifespan of 10-18 years.

Originally from India, this breed of cattle is being bred all over the world for its beef. Their droopy ears, like a dog, are their defining characteristic. Bulls can weigh up to 2200 lbs. Average lifespan is about 20 years.

Red Deer                            Cervus elaphus

Native to most of Europe, and parts of central and western Asia. It is one of the largest breeds of deer, just smaller than an Elk. It is also commonly mistaken for Elk in Europse. Their antlers can grow at a rate of 1 inch a day. Average lifespan is about 15 years.

Red Kangaroo                    Macropus rufus

The largest breed of all Kangaroos. Also the largest mammal native to Australia. Males can leap a distance of almost 30 feet in a single bound. It also has a range of vision that is about 300 degrees, due to the position of its eyes. Can burst at speeds of 35 mph, but can cruise along at 12 mph for hours on end. Lifespan is about 15 years.

Can grow up to about 13-14 ft long. Fully grown, mature red tailed's can weigh about 70 lbs. This species of snake gets its name from the red coloration that forms around its tail when it is mature. Native to South America. Average lifespan is about 25-30 years.

Rhea                                   Rhea pennata

Native to South America, this flightless bird strongly resembles an Ostrich. Although it is much smaller in size, averaging a height of 5.6 ft and a weight of up to 88 lbs. When in danger, Rheas will run in a zig zag pattern, spreading their wings to act like sails. Average lifespan is 15 years.

This old world monkey is native to most of southern Asia, from India east to China and south to Thailand. Males are about 20 inches tall and can weigh up to about 20 lbs. Do not have long tails, typically associated with monkeys. Lifespan is about 25 years in captivity, about 15 in the wild.

Ring-Tailed Lemur                Lemur catta

Like all lemurs, it is only found on the island of Madagascar, more specifically the southern parts of the island. It is the most noticable species of lemur, in thanks to the white and black circles around its tail that give the Ring-Tailed lemur its name. Average lifespan is about 25 years in captivity, about 15 years in the wild.

Scottish Highlander              

Native to Scotland, these cattle have long horns and thick wavy pelts of an orangish-yellow color. They tend to be a leaner animal getting most of their warmth not from fat, but from their thick coat. Average lifespan is about 15-20 years.

Shetland Pony

A specific breed of pony, native to the Shetland Isles near Great Britain. They range in height, but the maximum height for a Shetland pony is 42 inches at the shoulders. Ponies are known to live longer than 30 years.

Inhabits much of east Asia. The male, which is noticable larger than the female, will grow antlers that range from 17-30 inches in length. Also, while in rut, males will grow a "beard" that is very obvious. Average lifespan is about 15 years.

Growing in ranges from 20-60 inches in length, the Milk snake is found from most of southern Canada, the continental U.S., and into the northern regions of South America. The Milk snake is harmless, but closely resembles the venomous Coral Snake, as a defense mechanism. Average lifespan is about 12 years.

Native to Africa, the Spotted Hyena is also known as the Laughing Hyena. They live in large clans with up to 80 members. Their hunting parties will also vary depending upon what species the Hyena is hunting. Ranging from 1 to a group of 25. Hyenas can achieve speeds of 40 mph and have an average lifespan of  about 12 years.

Spotted Leopard               Panthera pardus

Native to Africa, and the southern parts of continental Asia. The leopard can leap over 19 feet, and jump 10 feet vertically into the air. It can also run at speeds of  42 mph. Is an incredible tree climber and is the smallest of the "Big Cats". Average lifespan is about 15-20 years.

A domesticated breed of equine. The donkey is most commonly used as a farm, or work animal. Are capable of breeding with a Zebra, to achieve a Zedonk.

Can grow up to about 30 inches long and over 100 lbs. Is native to Africa and thrive in the hot, dry climate. Continue to grow for the first 15-20 years of their life. Average lifespan is about 70 years old.

The largest member of the canidae family, a Timberwolf or, Gray Wolf can run up to 40 mph. Native to the northern parts of North America, Asia and Europe. The wolf body is built for stamina, and is able to travel long distances when necessary. Average lifespan is about 12-15 years.

A breed of domesticate pig from Vietnam. Can weigh up to 300 lbs when full grown. Boars, or male pot belly pigs, are full grown at about 6 years of age.  Can run at speeds of about 11 mph. Average lifespan is about 12-15 years

Native to southern Asia, but are bred in more areas to use as work animals and for meat. Though most Americans refer to Bison, and Buffalo as the same animal- they are in fact, not. Average lifespan is about 15-20 years.

Large horned, bovine animal native to Africa. The horns can grow to be longer than 6 ft long. The circumference of the horns is what sets them apart from other long horned cattle like Texas Longhorns. Bulls can weigh up to about 1600 lbs. Lifespan is about 20 years.

White Rhinoceros                 Ceratotherium simum

Native to southern Africa, an endangered species. They can grow to be 11-14 ft long, stand 5-6 ft tall at the shoulders, and weight range from 3,100-7,900 lbs. Though they are large animals, they are capable of charging at speeds of up to 35 mph. Average lifespan is about 50 years.

Wildebeest                           Connochaetes taurinus

Wildebeest in Dutch, means Wild Beast. Also referred to as "Gnu", they are native to the plains of Africa. A large antelope, it is very abundant on the african plains, with over 1 million Wildebeest in the Serengeti alone. Capable of speeds up to 50 mph. Lifespan is about 20 years in captivity.

A long haired bovine, found throughout the Himalayan region of south Central Asia. Wild yaks can be very large in size, weighing up to 2000 lbs. Domesticated yaks are much smaller, only weighing 1200 lbs when mature. Average lifespan is about 20 years.

Yellow Golden Pheasants     Chrysolophus pictus

Also referred to as the Chinese Pheasant, is a popular game bird. Will lay up to 8-12 eggs at a time that take about 22-23 days to hatch. Golden Pheasants come in a variety of colors, yellow, red, cinnamon, salmon, etc..

Zedonks                              Equus Domestica

A cross between a Zebra, and a Donkey. Just like mules, and ligers, they are completely sterile and unable to reproduce. Have the body of a donkey, with faint stripes, and the legs of a zebra. Average lifespan is about 20 years.

Zebu                                   Bos indicus

The Zebu at our park are Miniature. Like all "Miniature" stock, there is a maximum height associated with them, 42 inches. Zebu cattle in general stands out due to the hump in their back, behind their shoulder blades. Average lifespan is about 15-20 years.
